Muslim Internet Dating – where Past and Future meet

Being a Muslim in United Kingdom or European cities can be extremely difficult for a young person, especially when they get to an age when all their Western peers are dating simply for the fun of it and a bit of excitement, or to gain experiences in female/ male relationships.
While this may seem perfectly normal and acceptable in European cultures, for Muslims girls or boys, this is out of the question. Their dating ritual is viewed as a time of seeking a potential spouse, and is therefore forbidden until they reach an age at which they are ready and old enough to get married.

This does not mean that all Islamic marriages are necessarily arranged, as many people seem to believe. While this does occasionally happen, as a rule the youngsters do get a choice in the matter, although the approval of both families has to be obtained.
In Muslim communities, young couples to be are generally not allowed to spend any time alone together. Especially to begin with, family members will always be present to chaperone. The reason behind this is that sex before a marriage is absolutely forbidden, and not being alone together removes the temptation to give in to their desires. In addition, it is believed that couples are far more likely to really get to know all about each other when involved in sensible conversations, rather than being driven into a relationship by lust alone.

In most cases, courtships are very short and couples get engaged relatively quickly, as this usually allows them to at least go out in groups. To keep the time of temptation as short as possible, marriages usually follow very soon after. Internet dating for Muslims allows them to have a little more time to get to know each other. Although even here parents are often around at least for the first few conversations, and prospective partners will be just as carefully vetted as the boy, or girl, next door, the individuals involved are able to date for much longer, getting to know each other better still before getting married.

Even the most traditional of families rarely object to Internet dating through websites such as Alnaddy, for instance. Here young people can meet up and spend a lot of time chatting, finding out all there is to know about one another before ever meeting physically. With no physical temptation being possible, longer courtships are possible .With Internet dating, strict, ancient traditions and modern day life and technology meet to everyone's advantage.
